Who’s At The Point
Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine
In Fall of 2019, Thompson’s Point became the construction site of the remodeled and improved Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine. It is expected to open in spring 2021.
CMTM has been steadily growing both its visitor-ship and educational offerings for more than 25 years. But, the physical limitations of their current downtown space have restricted their ability to expand their programming and service all those they wish to be engaging with.
International Cryptozoology Museum
The International Cryptozoology Museum is the only one of its kind, in the world! Cryptozoology is the study of hidden or unknown animals, such as Yetis, Bigfoot, Lake Monsters, and Sea Serpents, as well as hundreds of other yet-to-be-found animals (cryptids) worldwide. The ICM has been featured on Time Magazine’s Top 15 Weirdest Museums in the World, and has won many other awards including Roadside America’s Top Choice to Visit August 2018.

Tree of 40 Fruit
Part art, part agricultural preservation, The Tree of 40 Fruit grows over 40 different types of stone fruit including peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and almonds. Sculpted through the process of grafting, the trees blossom in variegated tones of pink, crimson, and white in spring— in summer they bear a multitude of fruit. Primarily composed of native and antique stone fruit varieties, the trees are a form of conservation, preserving heirloom stone fruit varieties that are not commercially produced or available. Our four trees can be found in the grassy area between Halo and Brick South and are also displayed on maps distributed in on-site parking lots. Please note that while our trees are healthy, they are large saplings and in a few years will reach the size of the image above.
A pop-up Artist Gallery Space, the Experimentation Station features a rotating schedule of artists throughout the summer season. This gallery space gives artists and visitors a new way to engage with creative minds and experiences.
