The Depot structure was relocated from Union Station to Thompson’s Point when the station was torn down in the early 1960’s. It has since been improved with added structural reinforcement, a new roof, new floor, electricity, and new paint. Dubbed the “Depot Pavilion”, the structure is approximately 1/3 of the original size when it was located at Union Station and stands at 14,000 SF. The Pavilion serves as the gateway to a premiere outdoor waterfront event area encompassing nearly 3.3 acres in size with the mouth of the Fore River on 3 of the 4 sides.

Eventually, the Depot Pavilion will have improvements including informational environmental signage, access to water, a seasonal dock, Portland trails pocket park, permanent concessions and bar building, expanded grass area, paved parking and more.
